I've been part of a Pirates of the Caribbean (slight embarassing) forum since I was 13 and I'm now 21, so I have literally grown up with fandom meet ups :) We went to the Lyceum theatre, its so pretty in there, the architecture and murals are lovely - just as great as the show itself :) if you haven't been before I recommend going if only to for the atmosphere. We are going to see Phantom of the Opera in Manchester in a few months, which is really exciting :D x
Haha oh no, I was part of the Hello Kitty forums for a long time! That’s really cool, I only started doing fandom type meets from the age of 15. The Lyceum is the one I haven’t been to, I’ve been to the Kings (which is incredible inside I hope one day you can see it!) and the Festival theatres. I’ll keep an eye out for shows in the Lyceum when I’m in Edinburgh, it sounds lovely! Oh wow that sounds so much fun! The Theatre is so exciting, one of the many reasons I’d love to work backstage is the amazing atmosphere you get from live acting!
How funny! I had to explain to a girl I was waiting with that you wernt just girls 'in fancy dress for a night out', she had no idea. I'd never seen any properly dressed Lolita girls before, so it was great to see :) I did enjoy the show, though of course it was a bit of a sad storyline. Edinburgh is a lovely city, I wish I had more time there! I study in York but I've been involved with fandoms for about 9 years now and I go to meet-ups around europe and in London, so it reminded me of that :D
We usually get quite a large amount of people asking what we’re doing/where we’re going/why we’re dressed like that and Saturday was no exception! I love Edinburgh so much, I live in Dundee right now but I’m moving there in July and I can’t wait! Which theatre did you go to? Oh wow, that’s amazing you’ve travelled so much for meet ups!
That lolita meetup post you just reblogged: was it in edinburgh by any chance? I was there on Saturday with my university's theatre-goer society to see Of Mice and Men and when I was waiting at the station to go home I saw loads of lolita girls, it might just be a random coincidence! But I thought to myself it seemed like a bit of a tumblr meetup going on, and as a online fandom veteran I was glad to see such a group! x :)
Oh my gosh that was us! Yes we were in Edinburgh, our community is based in Scotland and we’re usually in Edinburgh or Glasgow. How amazing! Did you enjoy the show?
